Mac FarmBot Update

As we mentioned in our post the other day, FarmVille adjusted their zoom levels which crippled FarmBot temporarily.

We’re happy to announce that the Mac update is now available and we did more than just fix the zoom problem! We added some features:

  • Stop Key – You can now press the "Escape" key on your keyboard at anytime while FarmBot is running to stop the automation.
  • Start Key – Instead of pressing "Shift and Space" to tell FarmBot to begin you now only have to press "Space".
  • Zig-Zag Pattern – In previous versions of FarmBot for Mac, after finishing a row of crops it would return to the start of the following row. In our Windows version it would instead just move down and work backwards. We have added this to the Mac version. It is ultimately much faster since your FarmVille character will not have to walk all the way back to the start of each row to plow, plant or harvest.
  • Memory – Now when you close FarmBot and launch it again later on, it will remember the X,Y coordinates you used previously.
  • Speed Slider – Some users reported that FarmBot would occasionally skip over plots in their farm. This occurs on slower machines or machines with too many other programs running in the background. Due to this we had to cap the speed of FarmBot to ensure that few users would experience this problem. We have now instead added a speed slider so you can adjust it yourself and find the best possible speed. We recommend you start in the middle and work your way up or down depending on if it skips or not.
  • FarmVille Zoom Adjustment – We changed the pattern in which FarmBot moves the mouse cursor to accommodate FarmVille’s recent changes.
  • Other – Added up/down steppers to the X,Y value. Changed the "Go" button to "Start" and "Stop".

You can download this version by using the link we sent to you in your e-mail when you first purchased. Or you can request it at our support page.

Please feel free to e-mail us if you have any questions or run into any bugs. We hope that everyone enjoys the best FarmVille bot available for Mac!

@craig – This is before pressing the spacebar? What version of Mac OS X are you using? You can check by clicking the “Apple” menu in the top left corner of your screen and selecting “About this Mac”. Please e-mail us and we’ll assist you further from there.

Hello all!

Well, like craig said I have at my Macbook 2 Ghz ( 2GB memory ) And OSX Leopard version (10.5.8) also the problem that the new farmbot-update quit ( after I press the space-bar ).

Strange enough on my other Macbook ( Pro ) 2.53 Ghz ( 4 GB memory ) and OSX Snowleopard version (10.6.3) the new update works PERFECT. Even at the fastest speed.

Hope u have enough information… if not just ask me.
Greets,
Farmer

i found that the cursor doesn’t move in the correct line against the square.
if i put the top of the cursor in the bottom line of the first left square, it will end up at the top of the middle square ( i use 22×22) and it will be out of the square when the cursor reach the last right square.

Hello Farmer

Please let me know if you manage to get the new farmbot working on your macbook, and if so, what changes you made to help remedy the cause :)

@wdz – This is due to the change in FarmVille’s zoom size. Now when you are zoomed out all the way, FarmVille’s plots of land are not all exactly the same size. We are looking into this. Currently it is best that you do your farm in two different parts at a time. For example if you are trying to plow a 22×22 farm, do 11×11 two times instead. It’s slightly slower but it should be more accurate. Please let us know how that works out for you. We’ll keep any updates posted here once we release an actual fix for this problem.

@Courtney, Craig, Farmer and everyone else regarding the OS X 10.5 issues – We are also aware of this and currently working to fix it. Although there is unfortunately no temporary fix at the moment we will keep you posted here in the blog.

Sorry for all these issues everybody. The software was working flawlessly for 6 months until FarmVille’s new zoom size change. But we’ll get it taken care of and post here when an update is available. Our first priority is currently the 10.5 issues.
If anyone who is experiencing problems would prefer a refund instead of waiting for an update, please just let us know via e-mail.
